How To De-Skunk 20lbs. of Dog

I was originally planning on posting the most delicious vanilla cupcake recipe I have found to date, but I cannot site my source at this time.  Don't worry, I have the recipe at home, but I'd like to be able to give to the original baker.  So for now we're postponing that and instead you get to hear about our yucky dogs!

Last week Mr. Goddard and I went to have family dinner at my parents house.  He was meeting my Dad's side of the family for the first time.  Lovely time we were having, good food (as always), wine was flowing and interesting conversation.  My cousin lives up in the hills and is working his way towards a self sustaining farm.  They have several hundred chickens!  Unfortunately that all came to a grinding halt when our dogs bum rushed a skunk in the backyard.  Moses (the littlest one) went for the skunk again and again while Oscar and Otis looked on within the spray zone.  Poor Moses eyes swelled up and he was foaming at the mouth.  It was awful, as I'm sure many of you have experienced.

Luckily, my Mom had just read in the newspaper that skunk sightings were high right now and with it a new recipe was included for for ridding of that AWFUL smell.  Supposedly the old trick of using tomato juice just masks the smell temporarily.  In case you have pets and live in a rural area (even though my parents don't) you might want to write this down.  Isn't being a pet owner such a joy??
