{The Girl Kyle Bakes} World Renowned Sugar Cookies

I know I'm mostly about the cupcakes and I occasionally share some muffins recipes with you too, but these are some of the most phenomenal sugar cookies.  I just had to spread the cheer because I know December is the month where those of you who don't normally bake will be warming up your ovens.  (For the first time in months.) You'll be sharing treats with the office, friends, family and maybe you're one of those crazy people who makes endless plates of mixed cookies.  You'll need to add this your repertoire for all your holiday baking.

This recipe comes from a family friend and when Cheryl bakes, it's a special treat.  She's a wonderful baker, the kind who makes caramel from scratch!  Long story short, bookmark this page my friends!

{Greatest} Sugar Cookies

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 4-6 tbs. butter (I used 6, but I probably only needed 4)
  • 1 lb. powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk (or less, add slowly depending on the consistency you want for your icing)

  1. Cream together butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time on low-med speed.
  3. Add vanilla.
  4. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to wet ingredients.
  5. Bake at 350 until edges are slightly golden. (8-12 minutes depending on your oven.)
  6. Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack.
  7. Beat butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar one cup at a time.  After all sugar has been add slowly beat in milk until desired consistency is reached.
