B Is For Bride: A DIY
Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of hosting a bridal shower for my best friend from high school. A task that I take very, very seriously because I love to throw a party and I wanted her shower to be full of special touches. When I saw this post from Urbanic Paper I pinned it for future reference. That day came sooner than I thought!
When it comes to DIY this project is quite simple and I got everything I needed at Hobby Lobby. I'm so glad that store finally made it's way here! The downside to this project is that fake flowers can quickly add up. I have to say that I did overbuy, but only by a bushel.
Using an exacto knife I cut along the face of my letter, which was much easier than I thought. If you make any mistakes along the way, don't fret - once you stick the flowers in it should cover up the edges. Or you can always cover the edges with scrapbook paper or washi tape for some extra flair.
Next you'll cut up the floral foam to the best of your ability to fill in your letter the best you can. There's no real easy way to this, it makes a mess and you just have to puzzle it together. Just make sure that the foam doesn't stick up higher than the edges of your letter.
Now this might surprise you, but I trimmed the flowers down so there was less than an inch of the stem left and then I hot glued them into the foam. I would have thought the hot glue would have melted the foam, but luckily they did not. I mean what's a craft project without hot glue? What did people do before hot glue? I don't even want to think about it.
Now unfortunately as the evening wore on and as i got more in the zone I then stopped taking photos of my progress. Just try to image clipping each flower off the bunch, glueing and then stabbing them into the foam. And of course, if you should have any questions you can always contact me at thegirlkyle@gmail.com
